When You Have More Questions Than Answers

Rilke the poet says to learn to love your questions. But what if your unanswered questions leave you with anxiety and sleepless nights?

What if you don’t have all the answers?
•If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all. Isaiah 7:9•

On the days when you wake up hyper-aware of that gaping hole or void in your soul, the days you realize you are not happy or maybe uncertain or just feel life is unfair, we must free fall back into our faith — no matter how weak you feel it is.
You are, after all, leaning into something intangible, invisible, infinitely unfathomable. But you know there is no other place to turn. Even your best friends cannot save you, that dream house on the beach is just an empty house, drinking reveals the pain is still there when sobriety dries you up, any form of escape proves wherever you go, there you are.
Just because you believe in God doesn’t mean life is easy, it just means you choose to trust that pain has meaning. You actually recognize the desperate need for Christ. You have faith in something bigger than your temporary circumstances. When you trust in God, hand him your list of fears, worries and anxieties, then those things are no longer your problems, they are His: in quietness and rest is your strength.
In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength… (‭Isaiah‬ ‭30‬:‭15‬ NIV)
I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them. (‭Isaiah‬ ‭42‬:‭16‬ NIV)
“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:58‬ ‭NIV‬‬
